NM LLC doing business in NC

Asked by: Dan  — 2 February, 2013

Hello… If I form an LLC in NM, can I do business in NC?

Dan,

Depends on your definition of “doing business in”. If you, as the owner and operator of the company, are located in NC (which I would assume is the case) then for your NM LLC to operate legally in NC it needs to go through foreign qualification in NC.

If you only have clients in NC, and you operate the company from NM then it is possible that you wouldn’t need to register the LLC as foreign entity in NC
