LLC or C Corp?

Asked by: Hans  — 23 July, 2013

I manufacture jewelry in Ecuador and would like to setup a corporation in the US in order to import and distribute the jewelry. The products would be directly shipped from Ecuador to our customers (wholesalers/ retailers) in the US; the importing company would be the US corp. No warehouse or employees will be needed in the US for now. Which type of corporation is more useful in regards of taxation?

Thank you!

Dear Hans,

Thanks so much! We try our best.

Your setup seems to be rather simple, and I think an LLC in a state like Wyoming would work best for you. For better tax planning and advice I would recommend you to read some of the answers by our tax expert Wray here.
