Registering a DBA in Missouri
Any company or individual that wishes to do business in Missouri under a name other than its registered company name must register a so-called "fictitious name" (an equivalent of DBA or "doing business as"). All fictitious names are registered by filing Registration of Fictitious Name form with the Missouri Secretary of State.
Before applying for a trade name a company must make sure that the name is available by searching Missouri Secretary of State records. This process is similar to the first step in formation of a new company.
A fictitious registration is good for five years and may be renewed at the end of that period. Renewals must be made in the 6 month period prior to the date of the registration's expiration.
We can help you research the trade name of your choice, and prepare and file all the necessary trade name registration paperwork with Missouri Secretary of State - all you need to do is complete our simple application below.
