Canadian citizen operating a US company

Asked by: Antoine  — 23 March, 2012

Hi,

I’m a Canadian citizen. I run a website that sells information products. I do business only online. My customers are all over the world but most of them are in the US.

Do you know if I can form a US LLC for my internet business and run it from my home in Canada as a Canadian citizen?

Thank you very much

Antoine,

Yes, you certainly could register an LLC in the United States which you could operate from your home in Canada. Typically, international business owners who conduct their business online look to states such as Wyoming or Delaware, because of those states’ business-friendly laws.

If you form your LLC in one of those states you can use any address that is not a P.O. Box as the business address. The only address that would have to be in the state you register in would be the Registered Agent address. We do offer this service together with company formation on the registration application.
